Looking to access Microsoft Dynamics SL from a smartphone or tablet? For a long time Microsoft Dynamics SL users only accessed the ERP system like most ERP systems – from a desktop. In its most recent update – Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011 Cumulative Update 1 (CU1) – Microsoft has released Web Apps providing customers a fresh new way to enter and access information. Dynamics SL users can now use a web browser (supported by HTML 5) from a desktop, tablet or smartphone to perform the following functions:
Web Apps are built on the existing web services inherent in Dynamics SL 2011 and Microsoft has taken a role-centric approach in expanding the accessibility to it via these Web Apps.
Additional web services will be added to the list throughout the year and run parallel to Business Portal until the Microsoft Dynamics SL 2015 release, which is expected in late 2014. Web Apps can be hosted internally at your location or externally at a certified hosting partner site.
Microsoft plans to release web apps every 6 months through their wave releases. More functionality including project setup, delegations and resource management are coming in Dynamics SL 2015.
