Have you ever known someone going through an identity crisis? There are lots of good examples of this from the 80s: Madonna look-alikes and Flock of Seagulls hairdos anyone? Have you heard of a business software product going through an identity crisis? I jest, but Microsoft Dynamics for Finance and Operations, Business Edition, formerly Microsoft Dynamics NAV, has now been renamed to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in its latest release on April 2, 2018. Microsoft blogger and General Manager, Business Apps & Strategy, Alysa Taylor, said on her blog:
In the era of digital transformation, change is the new normal and a dramatic evolution is underway across industries. The most successful businesses are already reaping the rewards by expanding on flexible cloud platforms and meeting customer demands in real-time by collecting comprehensive data, intelligently analyzing results and responding with sophisticated automation software.
Later this spring, Microsoft will continue contributing to this movement with new updates to Dynamics 365. The spring release will continue our focus on new modern, modular applications, expanded analytics and AI software and improvements to our global, trusted, hybrid, secure cloud platform.
Ahead of this spring release, I am thrilled to introduce Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Generally available beginning April 2nd, Business Central offers organizations a single, end to end solution for managing finances, operations, sales and customer service, and an opportunity to easily upgrade from their entry-level accounting software and legacy ERP systems.
Business Central offers terrific value because it integrates with other Microsoft cloud services including Office 365 and can be customized or extended for specific industry needs with PowerApps, Microsoft Flow and Power BI.
Dynamics 365 Business Central brings the full power of Dynamics NAV to the cloud. As a single, end-to-end application, Business Central offers:
For professional services companies, Progressus, a Velosio company, has built a solution on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Progressus. Progressus Professional Services Automation, ideal for mid-market companies, provides the capabilities needed to manage all processes, including resource management, project management, sales and marketing, and financial management of professional services and project-based businesses, delivering a complete cloud PSA solution.
