Integrating Microsoft Copilot for Sales (formerly Microsoft Sales Copilot) into your workflow marks a significant step towards leveraging AI to elevate sales efficiency and enhance decision-making. This brief guide walks you through the licensing required to take advantage of Copilot for Sales and the straightforward installation process. Let’s dive right into how you can set up Microsoft Copilot for Sales, ensuring you’re ready to take full advantage of its advanced features and capabilities.

How to Get Copilot for Sales

Copilot for Sales is included with Dynamics 365 Enterprise and Dynamics 365 Premium subscriptions at no additional license cost. However, even if you don’t have a qualifying license, you can still use Copilot for Sales’s basic capabilities like email drafting and summarization without signing in to your CRM.

If you are using a Dynamics 365 license that doesn’t include Copilot for Sales, Salesforce CRM, or Power Apps, you can purchase the appropriate license through Velosio.

    General Installation Overview

Installation is simple. First, be sure you have Microsoft 365 administrator privileges to deploy Copilot for Sales in Outlook. For Teams deployment, you must have Teams administrator privileges.

You can deploy Copilot for Sales as an integrated app across multiple platforms from the Microsoft 365 admin center — or as an individual add-in on a single platform starting with the Microsoft AppSource. Here’s how to proceed with the installation for both Outlook and Teams:

Installing Copilot for Sales in Outlook

    1. Start from the Admin Center or AppSource

As an administrator, navigate to the Microsoft 365 admin center or Microsoft AppSource. If you choose to start from AppSource, you will be redirected to the Microsoft 365 admin center to complete the installation.

    2. Install and Assign Users

In the Microsoft 365 admin center, find Copilot for Sales under ‘Integrated apps’ or ‘Services & add-ins.’ If starting from AppSource, search for Copilot for Sales and click to begin installation, finishing in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Copilot for Sales for Outlook. During this process, you’ll have the opportunity to assign users who will have access to the add-in.

    3. You’re Ready to Go

    Your sales teams can begin taking advantage of Copilot for Sales from within Outlook. For a closer look at those capabilities, check out Using Microsoft Copilot for Sales in Outlook. [Link to the yet-to-be-published article by this title}

    4. Deploying Copilot for Sales in Teams

When you install Copilot for Sales as an integrated app, the Copilot for Sales app for Teams isn’t installed automatically. You must go to the Teams admin center and create setup policies to install the app and assign users. We also recommend that you pin it to heighten visibility and encourage your sellers to use it. Check out The Ultimate Team Player: Meet Copilot for Microsoft Teams for more information about Copilot for Teams.

    1. Understand the Teams Deployment

Note that while the Copilot for Sales add-in is enabled in Teams, you need to activate it manually. You’ll do this through the Microsoft Teams admin center — after you’ve activated Copilot for Sales in Outlook.

    2. Create Setup Policies in Teams Admin Center

As a Teams administrator, go to the Microsoft Teams admin center.
Navigate to ‘Teams apps’ and select ‘Setup policies’. Here, you can create or edit policies to install Copilot for Sales and assign it to users within your organization.

    3. Installing from AppSource (Optional)

If you opt to install Copilot for Sales for Teams from AppSource, be aware that this method installs the app only for your personal use. It does not deploy the app to other users in your organization.

    4. Enable Teams Meeting Transcripts

Once you’ve installed Copilot for Sales for Teams, extend its ability to create transcripts for Teams calls so that when it is added to a recorded Teams meeting, it can generate a meeting summary. To do this:

    • Sign in to the Teams admin center.
    • In the left pane, select Meetings > Meeting policies.
    • On the Manage policies tab, select Global (Org-wide default).
    • On the Global (Org-wide default) page, scroll down to the Recording & transcription section and turn on the Transcription toggle.
    • Select Save.

Role Requirements for Use with Dynamics 365 Sales

If you’re using Dynamics 365 Sales as your CRM system:
