The Mid-Atlantic Nursery Trade Show (MANTS) celebrated the show’s 50th anniversary at the Baltimore Convention Center from January 8-10, 2020, with record attendance numbers — the highest in the past 12 years. Velosio had the honor of attending and exhibiting. We enjoyed meeting with greenhouse growers, landscapers, farmers, and discussing the advantages of horticultural solutions.
MANTS 2020 was excited to welcome over 12,000 total registrants (including exhibitors) through the doors of the Baltimore Convention Center. Attendees from 44 states and 15 countries (including the U.S.) had the opportunity to visit 968 exhibiting companies, spread out over 1,550 booths, to do business, network and learn about the latest green industry trends they will see in 2020.
“It was an incredible experience to see MANTS turn 50,” said Vanessa Finney, Executive Vice President of MANTS. “One person can’t do it alone. That’s why I am so thankful to the team that helps us put on the best show possible year after year. I know the show’s founders would be proud of where we are today. We look forward to the next 50 years.”
My top three takeaways from the show are as follows:
1. Super optimism
Everyone I met with had a successful growing season in 2019. They are super optimistic about the upcoming 2020 growing season. The aisles were crowded and abuzz, and software solutions are a next-level investment for a lot of the attendees. MANTS is such a great way to put a finger on the pulse of growers and farmers. They are excited about what the future holds, in contrast to past shows, where I heard grumblings about tariff hikes.
2. Greenhouse Solution can be as small or as big as you need
Many of the growers that we met at MANTS, and even landscapers or traditional farmers are thinking about a technology investment to modernize their operations. However, it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Velosio has experience helping companies of all sizes evaluate and implement greenhouse management software so we can find the right fit for your business. You may not need Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central plus Agriware – Business Central on its own may be enough for your business. Our horticultural solution is flexible and customizable to fit your business needs. And with cloud-based technology, you can pay per seat so there’s a much lower upfront cost—which equals very low risk.
Many horticulture software solutions start with a grower solution and add-on basic business processes such as purchasing and order entry, but our solution is the opposite. We’ve started with enterprise business basics (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central) and added on the horticulture piece (Agriware), making it optional and flexible.
3. It’s Microsoft, and that’s exciting
Many people we met with at MANTS use Microsoft Office 365, and were very happy to hear about a horticultural softare based on Microsoft Dynamics 365. Our solution is integrated with Microsoft Office, which means you can instantly view order updates without leaving Microsoft Outlook, and gain access to cool tools like Microsoft Power Platform. Power Platform allows you to analyze data, build solutions, automate processes, and create virtual agents. You can save time and make confident data-driven decisions…all while waiting for a cup of morning coffee. The combination of Velosio’s expertise in the Greenhouse Grower industry, backed by Microsoft, the largest software company in the world with a net worth of $1 Trillion, is indeed exciting.
Velosio has real experience in helping greenhouse growers better understand their profitability, maximize space utilization and gain end-to-end management of sales and operations to drive growth.
Microsoft Dynamics + Agriware makes the perfect horticulture software solution for the sales, operational, supply chain, distribution and greenhouse analytics needs of your business. Better yet, it’s cloud-based and mobile-ready. Learn more at our web resource page.
