Use the Cloud to Arm Yourself with Data

I recently heard Andy Crestodina, co-founder of Orbit Media Studios, say, “never bring an opinion to a data fight.”

It’s a great reminder that the power of “knowing” what is causing a certain business issue and being able to quantify the impact of it will always win over “thinking” you know what may be the issue.

In order to get that advantage, you need to arm yourself with insightful business data so that you are ready to tackle any challenge head-on.

In today’s highly competitive business environment, there is a dynamic drive to keep pace with and ultimately overcome the competition. Forbes reports that 83% business leaders pursue Big Data projects in order to gain a competitive advantage.

Big Data or Business Intelligence once seemed unattainable for non-enterprise organizations – but that assumption is dead. Cloud-enabled analytics, like Microsoft’s Power BI, can provide an affordable data delivery mechanisms for organizations of any size.

Aberdeen Research recently showed that over 57% of cloud-enabled analytics users began using the tools in order to gain a competitive edge. Cloud-based analytics systems have additional benefits over just accessibility:

  • 32% of users reported having access to MORE available data than was currently being used or analyzed
  • Accessing data across areas of business or systems is 23% easier for organizations with cloud-enabled analytics
  • Over 70% of cloud-enabled analytics users experienced improved trust in their underlying data. That figure involves a substantial percentage of users.
  • Leaders saw 3x the increase in operating profit

Cloud-enabled analytics provides numerous cost savings and efficiency advantages for large organizations. These advantages start with scalability and easy access from multiple geographic locations. That means that you can bring your data to the fight, no matter when or where you are challenged.

Today, it’s a level playing field for business with the affordability and advances of cloud-based infrastructures, mobile apps, and solid database environments regardless of company size.
