The Microsoft Dynamics team has been hard at work to create and deliver exciting new updates for CRM 2015. These updates can be applied to your organization trough a customer-driven update process. The online updates will be applied through an opt-in model, which is a pretty significant change from past updates. This means that the online updates for CRM 2015 will be applied only after the admin has explicitly approved the update schedule for the company.
The New Customer Driven Update Process
With the new process, updates for all CRM organizations and Office 365 tenants will be managed in one central online portal, which is called the CRM Online Administration Center. To manage updates, you can reach the Admin. Center in multiple ways.
- The first way is from Office 365 – just log in to microsoft.login.com, click the Admin dropdown menu, and select CRM
- The second way to reach the Admin Center is to click on the link sent to you in email notifications sent at different intervals
- And the third way is when the admin is already signed into CRM, you will see a yellow upcoming updates notification bar which takes you to the CRM Online Admin Center
Viewing and Scheduling Your Online Update
Once you are in the Admin Center, simply click on the updates tab to manage your updates. You will notice that you are able to manage all of your organizations’ updates. You can view upcoming updates and currently scheduled updates for each of your organizations. Here is when you will also see if any upcoming updates are waiting for your approval.
At this point, you can see the preferred update time slot. If this time works well for your organization, you can approve the update schedule. Simply click on the “Approve update” button. Note that you can reschedule your update time even after you have approved the update schedule. You can schedule an update up to 24 hours before the preferred update time slot. Time slots for updates are made available to customers on a first come first serve basis.
The quick update panel on the right hand side helps you prepare for the updates. Here is where you can also learn about any new features that have become available.
Now go and enjoy the new smoother update processes and exciting new features in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online 2015.
