Salesforce.com is a stalwart in the cloud CRM market, but that doesn’t mean that it is the right choice for every organization. For those companies looking for a different option, Software Advice recently had a blog post highlighting “Salesforce Alternatives | 5 Cloud CRM Systems to Consider.” Of the five options that CRM Analyst, Lauren Carlson, presented in this post, two of them are Socius solutions: Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online and Sage SalesLogix Cloud.
Carlson did a good job assessing the functional strengths of Dynamics CRM and SalesLogix Cloud. However there is a major advantage that both of these solutions have over Salesforce.com. Both Dynamics CRM Online and SalesLogix Cloud were cloud solutions developed from successful on-premise CRM solutions. As a result, they both offer deployment flexibility which Salesforce.com cannot match.
With Dynamics CRM and SalesLogix, you own your data; so if you start out with the cloud CRM solution and down the road your business needs change and an on-premise deployment would be preferable, you can switch quickly and easily. On the other hand, if you start out with SalesForce.com and eventually want your data stored on your own servers, you will have to find a new CRM solution, which can result in a tremendous increase in time and cost, a learning curve for your employees, the challenge of promoting user adoption of a new solution, and the potential for data loss or corruption.
